METHODOLOGY

Biotic⁺ and three over-the-counter probiotic competitors were tested by an independent laboratory to measure CFU count (the number of live bacteria) and verify label claims.

All products were purchased in-store and transported under temperature-controlled conditions to ensure accurate analysis. 

THE RESULTS

Biotic⁺ delivers highest CFU count
In our comparison study, Biotic⁺ was shown to contain 14x more live bacteria than a leading probiotic capsule with the same label claim.

Competitor products delivered less than 10% of the CFUs stated on their labels.

In the end, Biotic⁺ exceeded expectations—delivering 3x its promised guaranteed CFUs, for a total of 60 billion.

METHODOLOGY

Biotic⁺’s delayed-release capsule was tested under fasted conditions using a validated simulator of the human gut.

This in vitro study evaluated whether Biotic⁺ probiotics could produce postbiotics — beneficial compounds that support gut lining and overall health.

THE RESULTS

Biotic⁺ produces beneficial compounds

Even without added “food” (prebiotic fibre), Biotic⁺ bacteria produced key postbiotics: acetate, propionate, and butyrate (short-chain fatty acids made by gut bacteria that nourish the gut lining and support immunity).

When combined with prebiotic fibres (the “food” probiotics love), results improved further:

• GOS (galacto-oligosaccharides): increased acetate and butyrate
  
• FOS (fructo-oligosaccharides): increased propionate produced
  

Biotic⁺ also reduced harmful fermentation (the type produced when certain bacteria break down proteins and release harmful by-products, like ammonia and sulfides).

METHODOLOGY

Live bacteria survivability was assessed through the upper gastrointestinal tract under fasted conditions using a validated simulator of the human gut.

Competitor formats covered leading liquid probiotics, standard capsules and powdered probiotics.

THE RESULTS

Delayed-release capsules best support efficacy of probiotics
We measured how many probiotic CFUs survive at different stages across delivery formats. Results showed the format is critical:

• Liquid-based: 0% survival of bacteria at end of small intestine
• Powders & standard capsules: <1% survival rate
• Biotic⁺’s delayed-release capsule: Over 50% arrived alive and active to the colon

Biotic⁺ was formulated with excess CFUs to account for natural digestive loss.
While its label guarantees 20 billion CFUs, testing showed 3x more live bacteria at arrival (60.6 bn CFUs), with 33.9 billion CFUs (170% of label claim) reaching the colon alive.

METHODOLOGY

Microbiome testing was conducted with 33 healthy adult participants (i.e. with no digestive or cognitive issues) over 8 weeks. 22 participants received Biotic⁺, and 11 received a placebo pill.

This in vivo study explored the impact of Biotic⁺ on microbial diversity and markers of inflammation, as well as self-reported stress, mood states, and gut symptoms.

THE RESULTS

1. Microbiome support
Maintaining a diverse environment of beneficial bacteria supports a stable gut microbiome. Biotic⁺ significantly improved microbial diversity:

• 100% maintained diversity
• 50% showed an increase

In the placebo group, 0% showed any improvement.

2. Mood
Emerging research suggests a connection between a diverse microbiome and mental wellbeing. In our study, 73% of participants reported improved mood while taking Biotic⁺.

3. General wellbeing
The gut is connected to several bodily functions. 68% of our study participants reported improved general wellbeing while taking Biotic⁺.

4. Gas & bloating
Increased microbial diversity, including the production of postbiotics in the gut, can support digestive comfort. 95% of our participants reported improvements in gas and bloating after taking Biotic⁺.

In our in-vitro study that used a validated simulator of the human gut, we found traditional probiotic formats showed a 99% loss of live bacteria before reaching the gut due to the stomach’s acidic environment.
